Nutrition

NUTRITION

This is a somewhat complicated area.Let me say i will explain but it's somewhat hard to understand/accept. It also tends to go against what most nutritionists preach. This minute you are banned from eating rice, bread e.t.c Next day ,it's perfectly okay to stuff yourself with cinnamon buns and even pizza .

KETOGENIC DIET

The diet is based on a few principles.

  1. Carbohydrates are useful but not essential for day to day activies
  2. You eat fat to lose fat
  3. Insulin spikes tend to limit fat loss
  4. Reduce insulin spikes by severely restricting carbohydrates and even protein to certain times and quantities

Workouts!

WORKOUT SCHEDULE

  • Monday:Shoulders...Delts(Front,Side and Rear) and Traps
  • Tuesday:Rest
  • Wednesday:Legs.....Quads and Calves
  • Thursday: Arms.....Bicep/Tricep and Legs...Hamstrings
  • Friday: Rest
  • Saturday:Back..........upperback/lats(wings)/Lowerback
  • Sunday: Chest..........Upperchest/Outerchest

Most workouts take approximately 1hr

Since I am in my mass gain phase and have a little more endurance/energy than normal, I might go nuts by working out twice a day. This happens 1-2 times a week; I train hard for about 30mins, go take a nap and then go back later in the day for another 30mins training for the same body part. However, I will try to stimulate the muscle using different sets of exercises.

eatinghealthy

I discovered long time ago that the only way to be healthy and stay healthy, is to incorporate healthy eating habits
and natural herbs, spices and supplement into one's lifestyle.
My believe mostly lies in the fact that illnesses and diseases are caused by either a deficiency
,pollution(toxins) or stress.I tend to steer clients away from harmfull synthetic materials and chemicals, leaning to more natural
products.
Hence, in addition to my dietary and exercise recommendations , oil pulling, using essential oils, using digestive enzymes/aids,Supplementing with apple cider vinegar, aloe Vera juice, witch hazel, bentonite clay,juicing/blending,fermented drinks, just to name a few are suggested.
As they could be quite expensive,When affordable, I get clients to also buy more of organic products
Some of what I buy and use are listed below:

1. 100 percent grass fed beef preferably from a local farmer
So many reason why they are better than conventional raised beef. They eat what they are meant to eat, hence, they are healthier,
contain more nutrients and don't contain anything harmful.
My farmer is www.mcdonaldfarm.ca

2. 100 percent organic fruits and vegetables , preferably from a local farmer
Same as for beef, too many reasons why they are better than conventional grocery store ones. Some of the reasons include
they being more likely to contain the nutrients they are supposed to have in the right quantities and don't have
any harmful chemical residues i.e pesticides, artificial fertilizers e.t.c

3. Raw organic milk ,if possible, also from a local farmer
You want to drink milk? Drink it raw (straight from the cow) or don't take dairy at all. There are better substitutes
out there than commercially produced cow milk. Coconut milk, almond milk e.t.c

In addition, the closer to
the source of your fruits and vegetables you are, the more likely they are to be fresh. In addition,
freshness has a direct impact on nutritional value and taste.

Profile

Right now , i earn income from 3 different fields, airline industry, food industry and the health and fitness industry. This is taking me from devoting as much time as i will like in the health and fitness industry. I hope to one day spend more time competing and helping people with their fitness goals.

I did three shows last year and will be doing quite a few this year (2013).

About me? ............ (history?)............(How i got started?)...............

Building the body: Way back,as far as i remember, i used to lift heavy bricks over my head. Similar to the "clean press". It was not anything crazy heavy,i just felt it was some kind of useful exercise in becoming strong and was getting some form of benefit from it. I also remember after sometime, i got into my first aerobic exercise routine, which was jogging around my block few times early in the morning before most of the neighbourhood woke up. I didn't want them to think i was weird, since it was uncommon to see anyone jogging like that. Along the line,i got into pushups which i did for fun and later became a routine. I could do it virtually anywhere, anytime. At first i could do only 5,then i increased to 10(magically), and then maybe 20. It was interesting as i normally got stuck doing the same number of pushups until all of a sudden,i found i could do more.

My actual weight training actually started when i happened to get hold of some dumbells from an auction. I was doing 3sets of 15. Of course, i did dumbell curls and some 2 other exercise for arms/shoulders i made up.

By chance, i got hold of a men's fitness magazine which started getting me interested in lifting more frequently. It wasn't until i actually got hold of a muscular development magazine which was geared more towards bodybuilding that sparked my interest. Around that time i.e 2005, i joined a gym and also got a york fitness home gym setup.

I did lots of experimentation/growing up in both nutrition and health supplementation. Of course my delving into nutrition has a long history of trying different diets and likewise supplementation, different nutritional health supplements. One day, I will add in a brief summary of my journey on those two major tenets of health and fitness.

So here i am,doing my thing...............what i like to do best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU GAT'S A QUESTION?

RELAX AND TAKE NOTES!!!!

Question and Answer

Naturally i seem to get my share of questions from peeps about fitness/bodybuilding issues. it is safe to assume that since i look the way i do, i do have some form of experience in this field. My knowledge comes mostly from actually doing them myself or even coming accross it in various questions and answers myself and from online and magazine articles. I will try to update this page with some of the common questions i have been asked at a point in time and if my opinion does change, i will update the answer as well.

Unfortunately, some answers might not be generally acceptable by many, that's okay by me. Fitness athletes, bodybuiders in particular, are known for experimenting a lot. This is partly because it is somewhat an extremist sport. We always want to be bigger than ever, leaner than ever, stronger than ever e.t.c In this quest, we try training harder than normal, eat lesser, eat more, use more enhancements, just to get that extra edge............................. So most of the time,we generally are miles ahead of scientists or even nutritionists.

Question 1: Is it okay to take alcohol once in a while?

ANSWER:

if you are eating for maintenance, i.e don't have any major fitness goals in mind, it's okay in my books. If you're are in a fat loss phase, where for a short period of time you have a goal of loosing some pounds of fat, it's not a good idea. firstly, alcohol does have about 7calories per gram/ml. since alcohol is "foreign" to the body, the body tends to utilise alcohol first before any other nutrient, hence, for the time being, it halts fat loss. Another reason is you tend to eat more after drinking alcohol since it dehydrates you and increases your appetite. While on a reduced calorie intake; as is recommended for fat loss, you sure don't want to be taking in excess calories from alcohol and have an increased appetite.

Question 2: can i loose fat by doing cardio without weight training?.

ANSWER:

yes it is perfectly possible. Bottomline is this; to loose fat, simply put, there has to be a calorific deficit i.e eat less than you are ingesting or use up more calories than you are eating. Unfortunately, though you loose fat when you go either route, after a while, your body starts "fighting back", as the human body seems to want to maintain yr bodyweight at what it is currently. this is where one tends to look at other ways of enhancing the fat loss process. you can only stave yourself so much and you can only do so much cardio before those options tend to do more harm/create more stress to your body/immune system than good. Though there are many reasons why one needs weight training, one major reason, fat loss related,is that the muscle you are able to put on is "high maintenance" i.e just sitting there burns up more calories, even when sleeping. Also, the muscle building process itself does use up calories too. This is in contrast to fat that sits there using no calories, or like i like to put it; sits there looking pretty.
